The Jekyll Island Museum occupies the restored Club Stables building with multiple exhibit spaces containing artifacts that document local heritage. The collections trace how the island was used and shaped by people across different periods.

The museum preserves records from the 1800s when Jekyll Island served as an exclusive winter retreat for prominent American industrial families. The island was among the wealthiest places in the nation at that time, attracting financiers and business founders.

The Mosaic Gallery tells stories of Native Americans, club members, and African American experiences through hands-on displays. These presentations show how different communities shaped the island over time.

The museum sits in the Club Stables on Stable Road, inside the 90-acre National Historic Landmark District. Daily tours leave from here and reach Indian Mound Cottage, a 25-room mansion, and the remains of Horton House. The 2018 renovation by Weber Group, Inc. and Main Street Design added an outdoor classroom and a multi-purpose room within the old stable walls.

The museum building is the former Club Stables on Stable Road, rebuilt within the original footprint by Weber Group, Inc. and Main Street Design and reopened in spring 2019. The redesign kept the stables' high, lofted ceilings and open space, and added an outdoor classroom and a multi-purpose room.
