Old Harbor Light, Lighthouse in Emmet Park, Savannah, US.
The Old Harbor Light features a cast iron shaft painted in dark green, rising 7.5 meters above East Bay Street with a gas-powered beacon at its top.
Built in 1858 by the United States Lighthouse Board, this structure guided ships through Savannah Harbor while helping them avoid submerged British vessels from the Revolutionary War.
Located within the Savannah Historic District, this lighthouse represents the maritime development of Georgia's coastal region during the nineteenth century navigation period.
The lighthouse underwent complete restoration in 2000, receiving structural repairs and fresh paint before its ceremonial relighting on January 11, 2001.
The structure resembles a large street lamp rather than a traditional lighthouse tower, making it an unusual example of nineteenth-century maritime architecture.
