17 Hundred 90 Inn, Historic inn and restaurant in Savannah Historic District, United States.
The 17 Hundred 90 Inn consists of three connected buildings with slate floors and soft brick walls, offering 14 rooms furnished with antiques and private bathrooms. The structure shows original architecture held together by traditional wooden pegs rather than modern fasteners.
The building began in 1790 as separate homes and was joined as a duplex in 1823 by Steel White. The eastern section was added later in 1888 by the Powers family, creating the structure that exists today.
The rooms reflect Southern traditions through dishes like crab stew and shrimp with grits, allowing visitors to experience regional cooking in an environment filled with historical brick and wood.
The inn is located in Savannah's historic district with easy access to walking areas and nearby attractions. A private parking lot is available for guests, which simplifies parking in the downtown area.
The building uses an uncommon construction method with original wooden pegs instead of nails, which can still be seen in the roof beams today. This old technique shows how homes were assembled during that period.
