Nathanael Greene Monument

The Nathanael Greene Monument is a granite structure topped with a bronze statue of the general on an octagonal column in Johnson Square. The construction stands as a focal point in the center of this historic downtown square.

The monument marks the burial site of Major General Nathanael Greene, one of George Washington's most effective commanders during the Revolutionary War. The cornerstone was placed by Marquis de Lafayette in 1825, linking two major figures of the American Revolution.
