Furman Institution Faculty Residence

The Furman Institution Faculty Residence is a two-story brick building with a hipped roof and multiple end chimneys near Winnsboro. The structure displays 19th-century construction techniques with solid masonry walls and traditional architectural proportions.

The building was constructed in 1837 to house educators during Furman University's early years in Fairfield County. A single-story front porch was added in 1936, and a kitchen extension followed in 1925.

The building represents a notable example of educational architecture from the antebellum period in South Carolina's academic development.

The property sits southwest of Winnsboro and is accessible via South Carolina Highway 213. The grounds span approximately one acre, providing space to view the building's exterior design.
