All Saints' Episcopal Church, Waccamaw, Historic Episcopal church in Pawleys Island, United States.
All Saints' Episcopal Church is a building in Classical Revival style with white stucco walls and four fluted Greek Doric columns framing the front entrance. The columns support a triangular pediment that marks the main portico and gives the structure its formal, symmetrical appearance.
The current building was constructed in 1916 and 1917 to replace a structure that burned down the year before. The congregation itself dates back to 1739, making this one of the older religious communities in the area.
The burial ground reflects how the community has honored its dead since the early 1800s, with graves marking generations of families who shaped the region. Walking through reveals personal stories carved into stone and the deep roots this place holds for local families.
The church can be visited during daylight hours to see the building and grounds at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk through the cemetery, as the paths wind through grass and older burial grounds.
In 2004, the congregation made an unusual move by leaving the Episcopal Church to join the Anglican Church in North America through the Diocese of the Carolinas. This shift reflects how even small rural communities sometimes reshape their religious affiliations.
