Temple Sinai, Religious landmark in Sumter, United States
The Temple Sinai building features Moorish Revival architecture with eleven stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Tanakh throughout its brick structure.
Founded in 1895 through the merger of local Jewish societies, the current Temple Sinai structure was completed in 1912 to replace an earlier wooden synagogue.
The Temple Sinai Jewish History Center maintains exhibitions documenting Jewish traditions, immigration stories, and personal accounts from Sumter residents since 2018.
The Elizabeth Moses Gift Shop within Temple Sinai sells religious items including menorahs, dreidels, kiddush cups, mezuzot, shofars, and Judaic art pieces.
The Barnett Memorial Addition from 1932 and Hyman Brody Building from 1956 expanded the original sanctuary with classrooms, offices, and additional facilities.
