Earl Warren Building

The Earl Warren Building is a government building located at 350 McAllister Street in San Francisco with six floors, a granite facade, and terra-cotta masonry. The structure features a 30-foot skylight in the main courtroom and serves today as part of a larger state office complex.

The building was constructed in 1922 and served as the headquarters of the California Supreme Court for many years. Following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, it underwent major renovations to ensure its structural integrity.

The main courtroom features oak paneling and a coffered ceiling, with a California landscape mural displayed above the judicial bench. These details create a formal and dignified space that reflects the importance of the cases heard within.

The building is easily accessible and located near other state offices within the Ronald M. George State Office Complex. Visitors should be aware that some areas may have restricted access or require security procedures.

The building was designed by renowned architecture firms Bliss & Faville and Page & Turnbull and displays classic Beaux-Arts architecture. Rising approximately 87 feet above street level, it stands as a symbol of judicial importance in this part of the city.
