The building represents the introduction of French Beaux-Arts architectural style to San Francisco through architect Albert Pissis, graduate of École des Beaux Arts.
The 42,000-square-foot structure underwent a complete renovation in 2016, which included earthquake retrofitting and restoration of the original architectural elements.
The interior banking hall features counters and vaults encased in red marble imported directly from Ireland, reflecting the institution's Irish heritage.
