InterContinental San Francisco, Luxury hotel in SoMa, United States.
The InterContinental San Francisco is a 32-story hotel in the SoMa neighborhood, designed to serve both business travelers and tourists. It sits directly next to the Moscone Convention Center, the city's main convention venue.
The hotel opened in February 2008, at a time when SoMa was shifting from an industrial area into a modern urban neighborhood. It was one of the first large new buildings to open near the expanded Moscone Convention Center.
The on-site restaurant Luce serves inventive New American food with regional wines and has become a gathering place for business travelers and visitors. The dining space reflects the modern character of the neighborhood.
The hotel is in SoMa, a neighborhood well connected by public transportation with several bus and metro lines nearby. Most of the city's main attractions and business areas are easy to reach on foot or by transit from here.
The building received LEED Gold certification for its approach to energy and water use, which was rare for a high-rise of this size in the city at the time. It was among the first hotels in San Francisco to earn this certification when it opened.
