Alameda High School, Public high school in Alameda, US.
Alameda High School is an educational complex comprising three buildings designed in Neo-Classical Revival style, with Ionic columns framing the main entrance and the Kofman Auditorium serving as a performance venue. The campus includes classrooms, sports facilities, and other structures supporting daily academic and extracurricular activities.
Founded in 1874, the school began with 52 students meeting in a rented room above a drugstore before relocating to its current site in 1926. This move enabled the development of the multi-building campus that visitors see today.
The student population represents diverse backgrounds, with Asian, White, Hispanic, Black, and multiracial students contributing to the educational environment.
The campus is accessible on foot with entrances that are easy to locate from the surrounding streets. Visiting the outdoor areas and grounds is best done during school holidays or weekends when classes are not in session.
The buildings received designation as an Alameda Historical Monument in 1976 and inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. These honors recognize the architectural and historical significance the complex holds for the community.
