Ya Po Ah Terrace, Modern high-rise building in Eugene, US.
Ya Po Ah Terrace is a modern 18-story high-rise standing about 65 meters tall in Eugene, providing 222 apartments for residents aged sixty-two and older. The building sits on the southern slopes of Skinner Butte and offers direct access to public transportation, medical facilities, and local entertainment options.
The building was completed in 1968 and became the tallest structure in Eugene at the time. Its construction prompted the city to establish height restrictions for future development throughout the area.
The name comes from the Kalapuya language and refers to Skinner Butte, the natural landmark on whose southern slopes this building sits near downtown Eugene.
The building features walkways, gardens, and picnic areas for outdoor enjoyment. Its location near downtown and major services makes it easy to explore the surrounding neighborhood on foot.
During 2020 renovations, horizontal bands and vertical fins were added to the exterior, painted in colors that echo the forested slopes of Skinner Butte. This redesign gives the building a fresh contemporary look that blends thoughtfully with its natural setting.
