Julian Hotel, historic hotel building in Corvallis, Oregon, USA
The Julian Hotel is a commercial building in downtown Corvallis, Oregon, originally opened in 1892 as Hotel Corvallis and renamed in 1911 after its owner. Following a major remodeling in 1910 under architect Elmer E. McClaran, it gained four floors with about 100 rooms and a large dining hall seating around 300 people.
The building was constructed in 1892 with characteristic Victorian features, including a prominent corner tower with a viewing platform for guests. The architecture was fundamentally changed in 1910 when Colonial Revival style was introduced and the original tower was removed.
The building carries the name of its former owner Julian N. McFadden, a local politician, reflecting its importance to the community. The dining hall served as a gathering place where people from town met, ate, and socialized together.
The building is centrally located at Monroe Avenue and 2nd Street in Corvallis and is easily accessible on foot. From here, visitors can easily walk to explore downtown shops, parks, and restaurants.
The original building featured a distinctive corner tower with a viewing platform where guests could overlook the town. This Victorian tower was removed during the 1910 remodeling and the building's style was completely transformed.
