Oregon Electric Railway Museum, Railway museum in Brooks, United States
The Oregon Electric Railway Museum is a railway museum in Brooks that preserves a collection of electric trolleys and railway equipment from the West Coast and other regions. The vehicles span from the 1890s through the 1970s and showcase the development of electric streetcar technology across different time periods.
The museum was founded in 1959 in Glenwood, originally using a former sawmill building with four tracks for storage. It relocated to Brooks in 1996 to gain more space and expand its operations and public programs.
The museum displays electric streetcars from different countries and eras that visitors can see operating seasonally. These vehicles reflect how different cities and regions approached urban transportation and shaped daily life for their communities.
Access to the railway is at Hopmere Station depot, where visitors purchase tickets before boarding the trolleys for their ride. Service operates only during warmer months on weekends, so check ahead to confirm operating dates for your visit.
The collection includes a double-decker from Blackpool and an open car from Sydney dating to 1913, among the rarest overseas pieces held here. These vehicles show how different countries designed their streetcar systems with distinct technical approaches and styles.
