Mary S. Young State Recreation Area, State park in West Linn, Oregon.
Mary S. Young State Recreation Area is a nature preserve spanning roughly 128 acres along the Willamette River with wooded trails, sports fields, picnic areas, and direct water access. The grounds are open and versatile, with maintained paths and spaces distributed throughout the site.
The land was donated by Mary Scarborough Young and Thomas E. Young as a gift to the public and officially opened in 1973. This donation made it possible to preserve this area for recreation and nature use.
This place serves as a gathering spot for families and nature enthusiasts who spend time along the river and observe local wildlife. Visitors use the open spaces and trails for everyday outdoor activities and to unwind in natural surroundings.
The grounds feature over five miles of marked trails, off-leash dog areas, multiple restroom facilities, and free parking. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for variable trail conditions, especially during wetter months.
Cedar Island sits in the river and can be reached from the park, making it possible to walk around the island in roughly a half hour. The western and eastern shores of the island show different landscape features, making the walk interesting.
