Abernethy Bridge, Road bridge in Oregon City, United States
The Abernethy Bridge spans the Willamette River with six lanes of traffic, connecting Oregon City to West Linn through Interstate 205.
The Oregon State Highway Commission approved plans for the east-west bridge in January 1964, leading to construction that began in early 1968.
The bridge received its name from George Abernethy, who served as governor of the Provisional Government of Oregon Country from 1845 to 1849.
The structure extends 2,727 feet with a vertical clearance of 85 feet at low river levels, accommodating approximately 95,500 vehicles daily.
Local residents performed an unofficial opening ceremony on April 1, naming it the West Linn Bridge before its official dedication in May 1970.
