Knights of Columbus Building, Fraternal hall and clubhouse in Portland, United States
The Knights of Columbus Building was a clubhouse in Portland featuring Gothic Revival architectural elements characteristic of the 1920s era. Located on SW Taylor Street, the structure displayed the ornamental detailing typical of that period's design approach.
Architect Joseph Jacobberger designed the structure in 1920 as a Gothic Revival composition that would serve the Knights of Columbus for decades. The building was subsequently repurposed and eventually demolished in 1998 to make room for new development.
The building served as a gathering place for Knights of Columbus members who met here for fraternal activities and ceremonies. The organization used the space to strengthen community bonds and conduct their ritual traditions within its walls.
The original structure no longer exists as it was demolished in 1998 to clear space for new development. Today, a modern hotel occupies the site where the historic building once stood.
After the Knights of Columbus relocated, the Aero Club of Oregon became the building's new occupant and used it for their aviation-related activities. This second chapter showed how the historic space adapted to serve a different community before its eventual demolition.
