Sellwood Park

Sellwood Park is a 16-acre urban park in southeast Portland with sports fields, tennis courts, and basketball areas. It adjoins the Springwater Corridor Trail, which connects the park to wider biking and walking networks.

The park was established in 1909 on the site of the former City View Racetrack. This conversion marked a shift from racing to public recreation in the neighborhood.

This park serves as a gathering place where neighbors meet for sports leagues, camps, and local events. It shapes how the community spends time together and builds connections.

The park is open from 5 AM to midnight daily, with parking available until 10 PM on SE Seventh Avenue and Miller Street. The grounds are easy to navigate, and all facilities are accessible throughout the day.

A kitchen building from the 1920s now serves as a concession stand and can be reserved for community gatherings. This structure shows how older buildings adapt to new uses over time.
