Adrenaline Peak, Steel roller coaster at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, United States
Adrenaline Peak is a steel roller coaster at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, Oregon, built by manufacturer Gerstlauer, featuring a blue and pink color scheme with a vertical lift hill and several inversions along the track. The ride runs with three trains, each carrying eight riders seated in two rows of four.
The coaster was built after the removal of its predecessor, Looping Thunder, in September 2017, with the new structure assembled in just eleven days in February 2018. The change brought a newer type of ride to a park that has been operating in Portland for well over a century.
The name of the coaster came from a public naming contest open to local residents, with the winning entry submitted by someone from the area. This kind of connection between the park and the people nearby is something visitors can feel when they look at how the ride fits into the surroundings.
Weekday mornings or early afternoon tend to have shorter lines, making those times a good choice if you want to ride without a long wait. The ride may close during strong winds or storms, so it is worth checking conditions before planning your day around it.
After the vertical lift, the track drops at an angle of 97 degrees, which is actually steeper than a straight vertical fall. This means riders are briefly tilted forward past vertical at the top before the drop begins.
