Pioneer Courthouse, Federal courthouse in Portland, United States
The Pioneer Courthouse stands three stories tall with a cupola, constructed using Bellingham and Tenino sandstone in the Italianate architectural style.
Completed in 1875, this federal building served as a post office on the first floor and housed the Federal Court on the second floor.
The courthouse maintains exhibitions showcasing legal documents from the Magna Carta to the Civil Rights Act, illustrating the evolution of American jurisprudence.
The building underwent a $23.4 million renovation in 2005, including seismic upgrades and improvements to accommodate the United States Court of Appeals.
From the building's cupola, visitors can observe the city through windows that have witnessed Portland's transformation since the 19th century.
