Millersylvania State Park, Historic state park near Olympia, United States
Millersylvania State Park is a wooded protected area spanning around 900 acres with lake shoreline in Washington state. The grounds feature mature cedar and fir forests, sandy beaches, walking trails, campgrounds, and picnic areas distributed across the property.
The Miller family farmed this land during the 1800s and sold it to Washington state in 1921 for public recreation. Work crews built most of the park's structures during the 1930s as part of government employment programs.
The park's buildings and pathways reflect the work of laborers from the 1930s who shaped the land with practical purpose. Visitors today walk trails and use facilities that have remained largely unchanged since their creation.
The park is open to visitors year-round and offers lodging and day-use facilities throughout the grounds. The site is easy to navigate on foot and provides camping, swimming areas, and boat access for various activities.
The park preserves tree stumps from the 1800s that bear scars from early logging methods using hand tools. These physical remnants allow visitors to see directly how timber workers operated before modern equipment arrived.
