Slip Point Light, Maritime navigation landmark on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Clallam County, US
The Slip Point Light features a former fourth-order clamshell Fresnel lens mounted within a square tower near the fog signal building.
The lighthouse began its operations on April 1, 1905, with a simple lantern mounted on the fog signal building before receiving its dedicated tower in 1916.
The lighthouse stands as a record of Pacific Northwest maritime operations, demonstrating the evolution of coastal navigation technology through different periods.
The former keeper's residence now serves the local sheriff's department, while concrete footings mark the path of the previous access catwalk.
The lighthouse bridged a 60-mile gap between Cape Flattery and Ediz Hook lights, ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Juan de Fuca waters.
