British Columbia Aviation Museum, Aviation museum at Victoria International Airport, Canada
The British Columbia Aviation Museum is an aviation collection at Victoria International Airport displayed across two hangars with aircraft, engines, photographs, and models. The exhibition focuses on the history of flight development in the region with aircraft spanning multiple eras.
The museum was founded in 1985 and houses the Gibson Twin Plane, the first aircraft designed, built, and flown in Canada. This collection documents important moments in Canadian aviation history.
The Memorial Room displays uniforms and equipment from Canadian military pilots who flew in different air forces. Visitors can examine personal items belonging to these fliers and learn about their service experiences.
The museum is easily accessible from Victoria International Airport and allows visitors to view aircraft up close. Keep in mind that opening hours vary by season and warm clothing is recommended during cooler weather.
In 2024 the museum acquired the Hawaii Mars water bomber, one of only two remaining Martin Mars aircraft in existence. This airplane completed its final operational flight from Sproat Lake before joining the collection.
