British Columbia Aviation Museum, Aviation museum at Victoria International Airport, Canada
The British Columbia Aviation Museum is an aviation museum at Victoria International Airport in British Columbia, Canada, housed across two hangars with aircraft, engines, photographs, and models on display. The collection covers aircraft from different periods of regional flight history.
The museum was founded in 1985 and holds the Gibson Twin Plane, the first aircraft designed, built, and flown in Canada. Since then the collection has grown steadily, documenting key moments in Canadian aviation history.
The Memorial Room displays uniforms and personal items from Canadian military pilots who served in different air forces. Visitors can look at these objects up close and get a concrete sense of what life was like for those pilots.
The museum sits right next to Victoria International Airport and is easy to reach by car. Since the exhibits are inside hangars, wearing warmer layers in cooler weather makes the visit more comfortable, and it is worth checking the opening hours before you go.
In 2024 the museum acquired the Hawaii Mars water bomber, one of only two Martin Mars aircraft still in existence. This plane made its final operational flight from Sproat Lake before joining the collection.
