Pacific Spirit Regional Park, Nature reserve in University Endowment Lands, Canada
Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a protected woodland with beaches, cliffs, and bogs on the Point Grey peninsula. The area spans about 860 hectares with natural transitions between different ecosystems.
The area was designated as a regional park in 1989, building on a protected zone established in 1975. These steps represent important milestones in the region's conservation history.
The woodland spreads across territories of the Coast Salish, including Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. These nations have maintained a long relationship with this land and its resources.
The area has about 55 kilometers of trails for walking, cycling, and horseback riding, with zones where dogs can roam off-leash. The paths lead through different landscapes and allow various activities depending on your interests.
A section of the park remains closed to the public and is used for research to study questions about coastal forest ecosystems. These protected zones allow scientists to track long-term changes in nature.
