Moray Bridge, Swing bridge in Richmond, Canada
The Moray Bridge spans the Middle Arm of the Fraser River with a center swing span measuring 53 meters and approach spans totaling 294 meters.
The bridge received its name from Jonathan Moray, a sergeant in the Corps of Royal Engineers who later became the New Westminster police chief.
The construction of Moray Bridge in 1957 marked a significant change in local transportation patterns, replacing the former Marpole Bridge crossing point.
The bridge primarily serves eastbound traffic from Vancouver International Airport to Richmond and Highway 99, with mechanical operations allowing boat passage underneath.
The federal government contributed $400,000 of the total $1 million construction cost, leading to immediate repairs for scouring protection of its piers.
