Minoru Park

Minoru Park is an urban park in Richmond with artificial turf fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a cricket pitch. Walking paths surround the lakes, with benches and exercise equipment placed throughout the green space.

The site was originally a horse racing track that opened in 1909. It later served as an airfield, marking an important phase in the region's aviation history.

The Richmond Cultural Centre within the park houses galleries and a museum that serve the local community. These spaces give the area a role beyond just recreation and sports.

The park has picnic areas, benches, and exercise equipment spread throughout the grounds. Most areas are easy to navigate on foot, with plenty of space to rest between different activity zones.

A pivotal moment in Canadian aviation happened here when the first powered flight west of Winnipeg took off in 1910. This early aircraft activity was a milestone for aviation development in western Canada.
