Empire Landmark Hotel was a modern high-rise with 42 floors of concrete and glass construction located on Robson Street in Vancouver's West End. The building reached 120 meters in height and dominated the surrounding cityscape for decades.
The building opened in 1974 as Sheraton Landmark and served as the city's tallest hotel for many years. It closed permanently in 2017 and was demolished in 2019 to make way for a new residential development.
The building represented the evolution of Vancouver's hospitality sector, serving as the city's tallest hotel throughout its operational years.
The building was demolished in 2019 and no longer stands, so it cannot be visited today. The site now hosts a new residential development that reflects how Vancouver's urban landscape continues to change.
The building housed Cloud 9, a revolving restaurant on the top floor that offered 360-degree views of Vancouver and the surrounding mountains. This restaurant was a popular spot for visitors to experience the city from an elevated vantage point.
