Kinnear Park

Kinnear Park, Urban park in Queen Anne Hill, Seattle, United States.

Kinnear Park is a 14-acre green space spanning two levels on the southwest slope of Queen Anne Hill, combining open grassy areas with dense forested sections. Pathways connect different parts of the park and allow visitors to move between the upper and lower areas.

George Kinnear, a Civil War veteran and real estate developer, donated the original 11-acre parcel to the city of Seattle for one dollar in 1887. This gift marked an important contribution to the city's expansion of public open spaces during that era.

The park functions as a community gathering place for outdoor events and ceremonies, with sight lines toward the bay and distant mountains visible from various spots. Residents use the space naturally for celebrations and social occasions throughout the year.

A dedicated parking lot located behind a nearby business on West Mercer Street is available on weekends and after business hours. Visitors should check parking availability before arriving, as access may be limited during certain times of the week.

A dedicated off-leash dog area features a gated space with wood chip ground covering and double gates situated beneath a forest canopy. This section was designed to provide dogs with a safe, shaded place to run and play away from open areas.
