Gaffney's Lake Wilderness Lodge, فندق في الولايات المتحدة
Gaffney's Lake Wilderness Lodge is a building completed in 1950 on the shore of Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley. The three-story structure features a white cement exterior with large glass windows framed in fir wood, ten guest rooms with balconies, and interior support columns made of natural wood that create a warm atmosphere.
An early homesteader operated cabins on the site in the 1900s for hunters and fishermen. The Gaffney brothers purchased the land in 1926 and expanded it into a major resort with about sixty cabins, a golf course, bowling alley, dance hall, and roller rink that attracted locals and travelers through World War II.
The lodge takes its name from the Gaffney family, who developed a resort here beginning in 1926. This place served as a gathering spot where visitors came to enjoy outdoor activities and spend time with loved ones by the water.
The grounds are easily accessible with walking paths and viewpoints overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. King County acquired the property in 1966, and the City of Maple Valley now manages it as a public space open to visitors.
The property features a large Thunderbird sculpture carved from a cedar log measuring more than 7 feet (2 m) in diameter. A spiral staircase wraps around the sculpture, leading visitors up to a mezzanine level where they can view it closely from different angles.
