Jackson Hydroelectric Project, Hydroelectric power station in Sultan, United States
The Jackson Hydroelectric Project is a power station near Sultan with four turbines that use water from Spada Lake. The facility generates electricity by harnessing the flow and storage of water in the reservoir.
The facility was built in two phases, with the Culmback Dam completed in 1965. A later expansion increased the dam height significantly.
The power station honors Senator Henry M. Jackson from Snohomish County while providing renewable energy to over 56,000 local households through sustainable practices.
Spada Lake is accessible for fishing, boating, and hiking with picnic areas along the shores. Swimming and overnight camping are not permitted at this site.
The project has built special fish passages to allow fish migration. The complex also protects extensive forest areas and helps control flooding.
