Del Campo Peak, Mountain summit in Snohomish County, United States
Del Campo Peak is a mountain summit in the Cascade Range that rises to about 2,000 meters (6,560 feet). The climb passes through Gothic Basin, a rocky area filled with large boulders and steep terrain that demands careful footwork and balance.
The summit became more accessible to climbers after the Mountain Loop Highway was built in the early 1900s. This road opened the Cascade region for exploration and drew increasing numbers of mountaineers to the area.
Local climbing communities maintain route markers and cairns throughout the seasons, creating a collaborative network of navigation aids for fellow mountaineers.
Parking requires a Northwest Forest Pass at Barlow Pass on the Mountain Loop Highway east of Granite Falls. Good footwear with traction and some climbing experience help make the scramble safer and easier to navigate.
The summit area offers clear sightlines to neighboring peaks, revealing the rugged landscape of the central Cascades. On clear days, wide views stretch across surrounding ridges and valleys that most hikers never see from lower elevations.
