Issaquah Valley Trolley, Heritage streetcar line in Issaquah, United States
The Issaquah Valley Trolley is a restored streetcar system operating on a half-mile track from the Issaquah Depot Museum, carrying passengers in vintage cars. Car No. 519, a restored vehicle from Lisbon, serves as the main operating trolley alongside other preserved equipment.
The project started in 2001 after Issaquah preserved the local tracks following the Burlington Northern line abandonment in 1998. The effort focused on bringing a piece of the region's transportation history back to life for visitors.
The trolley is operated by the Issaquah Historical Society and reflects the town's connection to its past as a transportation hub. The rides let visitors experience how people once traveled through the area.
Rides are typically available on weekends from 11 AM to 3 PM, offering visitors a short, relaxed journey through town. The stop is located right at the Depot Museum, making it easy to plan your visit and explore the historic building nearby.
The system uses a generator car to supply power to the traction motors instead of relying on overhead electrical lines. This unusual approach simplifies operations and keeps the streetscape cleaner.
