The beach formed in the early 20th century as a result of harbor construction that changed the natural sand movement patterns. This project reshaped the coastline into its current form.
The beach draws surfers, volleyball players, and families who gather here for recreation and social activities throughout the year. It functions as a casual outdoor gathering space where people naturally come together for water sports and leisure.
The beach has restrooms, showers, picnic tables with grills, and ample parking nearby. These amenities make it easy to spend a full day here.
The beach owes its distinctive shape to an unintended consequence of harbor construction that blocked the natural sand flow. Remnants of the original shoreline are still visible in shallow water offshore.
