History
Construction on the courthouse began in 2002 and was completed in 2005. The project expanded federal judicial capacity for the Eastern District of California and the surrounding region.
Culture
The building represents contemporary judicial architecture through its brutalist design, created by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects in collaboration with Gruen Associates.
