Tower Theatre, Movie theater in Fresno, United States.

Tower Theatre is a historic movie theater and live event venue in Fresno, California, built in the Streamline Moderne style with curved forms, smooth surfaces, and a tall vertical tower on its facade. The main auditorium holds around 760 seats and retains much of the original interior design from when the building first opened.

The theater opened in 1939, designed by S. Charles Lee at a time when Streamline Moderne was becoming the dominant style for new cinemas across California. It was later listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which helped ensure its survival through decades of change in the entertainment industry.

The Tower Theatre gives its name to the surrounding Tower District, a neighborhood known for its independent shops, restaurants, and nightlife. On event nights, the area around the theater fills with people, making it a natural meeting point for locals and visitors alike.

The theater sits in the Tower District, where parking is available on surrounding streets and the neighborhood is easy to explore on foot before or after a show. It is worth checking what type of event is scheduled, as the venue alternates between film screenings and live performances, which can affect seating and the overall feel of the visit.

The tall neon tower on the facade was designed to be seen from a distance down the street, functioning as a kind of lighthouse for the neighborhood long before electric signage became common. This tower ended up lending its name to the entire surrounding district, which still carries that name today.
