Las Vegas Boulevard, Main arterial road in Clark County, United States
Las Vegas Boulevard is a main arterial road in Clark County running about 19.5 kilometers through the metropolitan area, connecting numerous hotels, casinos, and entertainment facilities along its length. The road leads from the southern end of the valley up to northern neighborhoods, passing through both densely built zones and quieter residential areas.
The road began as part of U.S. Route 91, linking Los Angeles with Salt Lake City and serving as the primary north-south connection through the mid-20th century. After Interstate 15 was built, regional traffic shifted away, and the former highway evolved into a local main axis for the growing city.
The northern section still carries traces of Route 91 heritage, while southern parts reflect newer development patterns with recreational facilities. Visitors experience along the road a mix of old highway infrastructure and contemporary entertainment buildings spreading across several kilometers.
The road crosses several major highways including Interstate 15 and U.S. Route 93, creating connections to regional destinations and Nellis Air Force Base. Visitors can use pedestrian crossings and wide sidewalks along the entire route, especially in more densely built sections with hotels and casinos.
Between 1980 and 2005, sections of the road formed part of the Las Vegas Marathon course, integrating the street into local sporting events. Runners passed through both brightly lit casino zones and quieter residential neighborhoods further north.
