Las Vegas High School, high school in Nevada, United States
Las Vegas High School is a public secondary institution in Nevada that serves students in grades nine through twelve. The school operates with a spacious campus that includes modern facilities and occupies a location near other schools and public spaces in the Sunrise Manor area.
The school opened in 1905, making it the oldest high school in Las Vegas. It relocated to its current campus on East Sahara Avenue in 1993, while its original 1930s building with distinctive Art Deco styling now serves the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies and Performing Arts.
The school serves as a gathering place for students and families from different backgrounds across the city. School events, sports games, and performances show how the institution connects people and supports students' growth both inside and outside the classroom.
The school is located in the Sunrise Manor area, which is easily accessible by car or public transportation. Visitors can attend public events, sports games, and school activities that take place regularly on the campus.
The original campus building was destroyed by fire in 1934 but was rebuilt, and later replaced by the iconic 1930s structure. A former student, William Harrell Nellis, gave his name to the nearby Nellis Air Force Base.
