Five Mile Pass, Protected recreation area near Eagle Mountain, United States
Five Mile Pass is a protected recreation area spanning around 34,000 acres of land with rolling hills, valleys, and scattered juniper trees across the border between Utah and Tooele counties. The terrain features a network of dirt roads and trails plus several informal motocross courses.
The route passed through this area as part of the Pony Express mail service during 1860 and 1861, connecting the eastern United States with western territories. This historic connection made the place a key passage point during the era of westward expansion.
The area draws off-highway vehicle riders who use the network of trails to explore the open terrain on motorcycles and ATVs.
The area is best reached by private vehicle as access points branch off from Interstate 15 in the region. Visitors should prepare for driving on rugged unpaved roads and bring supplies since the location is remote and far from town services.
The terrain contains numerous trails built with loose chunk rock and hard-packed dirt that create natural challenges for riders. These raw features make the place particularly appealing to those seeking genuine off-road adventure rather than manicured facilities.
