Welfare Square

Welfare Square is a humanitarian complex with multiple buildings including a grain silo, milk processing plant, cannery, bakery, and grocery store spread across several city blocks. The facility produces and distributes food products to support people in need.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints established this complex in 1938 to address community needs during the Great Depression recovery period. It grew to become a major food distribution center for humanitarian assistance.

Members of the Church contribute monthly to support assistance programs that provide food and resources to people facing financial hardship.
