Terrace Ballroom, Dance hall on South Main Street, Salt Lake City, United States.

The Terrace Ballroom was a dance hall on South Main Street in Salt Lake City with seating for around 4,000 people. The interior featured cedar paneling throughout the main auditorium and decorative fountains positioned in the lobby area.

The building opened in 1931 as Coconut Grove, then became Rainbow Randevu during the 1940s. It was renamed Terrace Ballroom in 1959 and operated under that name until closing in late 1981.

The venue held regular orchestra nights every Tuesday that drew crowds from across the city. Visitors could experience diverse music styles, from traditional orchestras to rock concerts, all in the same space.

The venue hosted many types of events including political gatherings, school proms, church dances, and major concerts. It is important to note that the location has been closed for many decades and is not available for visits today.

Owner Robert E. Freed made the notable choice to welcome all people and reject the racial barriers that existed elsewhere at the time. This openness was unusual for the era and represented a bold stance in the community.
