Tour CIBC, Office skyscraper in Ville-Marie, Canada.
Tour CIBC is an office skyscraper featuring a green slate and stainless steel exterior, rising 45 stories and 187 meters (613 feet) above downtown Montreal. The tower combines office space with retail areas at street level and connects to the city's underground pedestrian system.
The building was completed in 1962, designed by Peter Dickinson in collaboration with Ross, Fish, Duschenes and Barrett. It represents a key moment in Montreal's adoption of International Style architecture during that era.
The entrance hall displays notable artworks, including a bronze sculpture by Henry Moore and a painting by Serge Lemoyne. These pieces add an artistic dimension to the commercial space that visitors encounter when entering the building.
The building is accessible during business hours and connects to the underground network, making it convenient to reach in any weather. Keep in mind that this is an active office building, so some areas may have restricted access to visitors.
The building has three separate elevator banks serving the upper floors and a dedicated fourth elevator system for access to the underground parking. This unusual elevator configuration helps manage traffic flow efficiently throughout the large complex.
