One Yonge Street

One Yonge Street is a skyscraper located at the corner of Yonge Street and Queens Quay with 25 floors rising approximately 100 meters high. The structure displays clean lines and geometric forms typical of mid-century International style, serving as a landmark where the city meets the waterfront.

The building opened in the early 1970s as a new headquarters for a major Canadian newspaper company relocating from another downtown location. After serving this function for over 50 years, the structure transitioned to different uses in recent times.

The building sits at a crossroads between downtown and the waterfront, where work and leisure spaces meet naturally. You see people moving between offices, shops, and public areas throughout the day, creating an active mixed-use neighborhood.

The building is easily accessible by public transit and sits directly beside public plazas and waterfront pathways. The area is very walkable, with good sidewalk coverage and pedestrian access throughout the neighborhood.

The site is undergoing a major redevelopment plan that will eventually replace this structure with several much larger towers on the same grounds. This transformation will significantly reshape the appearance of this corner of the waterfront.
