Gustav Becker House, Prairie School residence in Ogden, United States
The Gustav Becker House at 2408 Van Buren Avenue features horizontal lines, flat roofs, and natural materials characteristic of Prairie School architecture.
Built in 1915, the house was adapted from Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of a Fireproof House for $5,000, published in Ladies' Home Journal in 1907.
Gustav Becker, a noted industrialist and co-founder of The Becker Brewing Company, maintained connections with the Bannock and Shoshone tribes in Utah.
The property, occupying less than one acre, now functions as a children's justice center, having previously served as a venue for wedding receptions.
The Salt Lake architectural firm Ware & Treganza designed this residence with input from Thekla Bowen Becker, who consulted extensively on the project.
