Luminous Veil, LED lighting installation on Prince Edward Viaduct in Toronto, Canada.
The Luminous Veil is an LED lighting art installation on the Prince Edward Viaduct that runs the full length of the bridge. Thousands of color-changing lights create a visual display that shifts throughout the evening and responds to local weather conditions.
The viaduct was originally built in 2003 as a safety barrier without any lighting features. The LED illumination system was added later as part of a major installation effort.
Artist Dereck Revington developed the design through mathematical concepts and discussions with Toronto mental health communities to represent healing and transformation.
The best time to visit is after dark when the lights are fully activated. You can view the installation from the ground or from nearby areas that offer good sightlines to the bridge structure.
Each evening presents different light combinations across the 2,863 linear feet of RGB color-changing luminaires, transforming the bridge into a dynamic visual experience.
