Prince Edward Viaduct, Multi-level bridge in Don Valley, Toronto, Canada
The Prince Edward Viaduct spans the Don Valley and links Bloor Street East with Danforth Avenue on a multi-level concrete structure. The framework consists of five arches and carries both road traffic and a subway line on its lower tier.
Edmund Burke designed this crossing in the early 20th century after years of city referendums. The opening followed the end of World War I and connected both sides of the valley for the first time directly.
The bridge appears in the 2004 film Resident Evil: Apocalypse under the name Ravens Gate Bridge, serving as a central location in the movie.
Cyclists use dedicated paths on both sides, while pedestrians walk along the full length of the crossing. Access points appear at multiple entrances along Bloor Street and Danforth Avenue.
A metal barrier made of thousands of vertical rods runs along the entire span and forms a continuous transparent wall. This installation changes the appearance of the structure especially at night through shifting light reflections.
