Page, Gateway city in Coconino County, Arizona.
Page is a small town in Coconino County, Arizona, positioned atop Manson Mesa. The settlement sits roughly 380 meters (1250 feet) above the waterline of Lake Powell, which spreads out below the plateau rim.
The Bureau of Reclamation founded the settlement in 1957 as a camp for workers building the Glen Canyon Dam. After completion of the dam, the community evolved into a permanent town and gained incorporated status in 1975.
The town bears the name of John C. Page, a commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation during its founding era. Many residents work in tourism-related roles, operating boat tours or guiding services around the nearby reservoir.
U.S. Route 89 passes through the town, linking it to other locations across northern Arizona. A small regional airport offers limited connections for travelers wanting to reach the area.
The closure and demolition of the Navajo Generating Station in 2020 dramatically altered the surrounding skyline. The disappearance of its three tall stacks marked the end of coal power production in this part of Arizona.
