The Palace of Justice of Douala stands as a symmetrical Art Deco structure with two additional wings added during the 2000 renovation project.
Built between 1930 and 1931 during the French Mandate period, this building replaced the traditional court system previously established under German administration.
The structure represents the transition from indigenous legal practices to a formal French colonial judiciary system in the Littoral region of Cameroon.
The building currently houses the Court of Appeal of the Littoral region and maintains regular operating hours for legal proceedings and administrative matters.
Inscriptions on the facade document multiple construction phases, including the original 1931 completion date and the 2000 structural modifications.
