Doual'art, Contemporary art gallery in Bonanjo district, Douala, Cameroon.
Doual'art is an art gallery housed in a carefully restored former cinema building in the Bonanjo district. The facility contains multiple exhibition spaces, a café, and outdoor areas where art installations are displayed.
The gallery was founded in 1991 by Marilyn Douala Bell and Didier Schaub and registered as a non-profit organization in 1992. It has since worked to support artists and build the contemporary art scene in Cameroon.
The institution takes its name from the Duala people of the region and celebrates the city's art scene. The restored building serves as a gathering place where visitors encounter contemporary work and where local and international artists present their creations.
The venue is located at Place du Gouvernement and welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday. Guided tours of current exhibitions are available, providing better access to the work on display.
The organization launched the La Nouvelle Liberté project in 1996, installing sculptures throughout Douala's public spaces. These works remain part of the city's landscape and have shaped how people experience the urban environment.
