Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge, Double-decker suspension bridge over the Yangtze River in Wuhan, China.
The Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge extends 4,317.8 meters across the Yangtze River with a main span of 1,700 meters, featuring towers reaching 254.9 meters in height and a double-deck design accommodating multiple traffic lanes.
Construction of the bridge began in July 2015 and was completed in October 2019 after four years of work, with the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group leading the development at a cost of approximately 8.5 billion yuan.
The bridge has become a recognizable feature of Wuhan's urban landscape, serving as a symbol of modern Chinese infrastructure development and representing the country's advancements in large-scale engineering projects during the 21st century.
The upper deck carries six lanes connected to the city's expressway system, while the lower deck provides four lanes for motor vehicles and two for non-motorized transport and pedestrians, improving connectivity between Hanyang and Wuchang districts.
The bridge holds the distinction of having the longest suspension span in China and the third-longest globally at 1,700 meters, allowing large ships to pass underneath while supporting high-volume traffic on both decks simultaneously.
