Tortoise Mountain TV Tower

Tortoise Mountain TV Tower is a concrete television transmission structure standing 311 meters tall, with an observation level positioned around 221 meters up. From this viewing area, you can see across the Yangtze River and toward the city below.

Built in 1986, the tower represented China's first independently designed television transmission structure. This achievement marked an important step in the country's broadcasting development during that era.

The tower shares its mountain with the Qing Chuan Ge temple complex, a spiritual site that has drawn visitors for centuries. Walking around the area, you notice how the ancient religious buildings and the modern structure coexist on the same slopes.

The tower sits on the lower northern slope of Guishan Mountain and is accessed via Guishan North Road. Clear days offer the best views, so plan your visit accordingly for seeing across the river.

The structure was deliberately positioned on the northwestern shoulder of the mountain rather than its peak to protect the ancient temple complex above. This design choice shows how modern development and historical preservation were balanced at this location.
